Welcome to the Website of the Burnham-on-Sea Methodist Church.

Life
is full of contrasts. We have day and night; dark and light; summer and
winter; some people are tall and others are short; some have blue eyes and
some have brown eyes. As we come to Easter we have the contrast of the
darkness of Good Friday and the joy and brightness of Easter Day. During
Holy Week we have looked and shared with Jesus his journey to the Cross
and we come to the experience of the Cross itself on Good Friday a day of
darkness. We remember our Lord and his giving of himself on the Cross for
each one of us. Coming to the Cross we confess our sins and ask his
forgiveness.
Easter Day comes with the greeting, “Christ is Risen, He is risen indeed.” It is a day of brightness and light. What great news! I remember the time I visited the Holy Land and stood inside the tomb where Jesus is believed to have been laid. It was place of darkness. I looked out through the door and saw the light. The wonder and words came to me, “He is not here. He is risen” Yes, He is alive in the world in which I live.
May we know the wonder and joy of our risen Lord.
